For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to be an astronaut.
As a small child, I would drag my parents to Johnson Space Center in Houston nearly every weekend just to marvel at exhibits showing moon rocks, early capsules, rovers, and, of course, the mighty Saturn V. At home in College Station, I would watch Star Trek religiously. Jean-Luc Picard, Geordi LaFoge, and Mr. Data were my superheroes, and, like them, I wanted to explore the stars and solve problems with science and technology.
Over time, my interests shifted and reformed. Finding out you're partially colorblind tends to put a damper on dreams of being an astronaut after all. I found law, politics, philosophy, mathematics, but underneath all that, the love of science and the dream of flight remained.
During my time at U.C. Berkeley, I studied Industrial Engineering & Operations Research. Through my coursework and my experiences as Chief Engineer of Space Enterprise at Berkeley, I gained not only a robust engineering education but a wealth of hands-on experience in the design, build, test, and flight cycle of high performance rockets.
Post graduation, I have begun a role as a Manufacturing Engineer at SpaceX, working on the Dragon 2 propulsion system.
